Recent graduates from the Mechatronics have reflected that: In Mechatronics we were always told that failing is the path to success, and if it isn’t this time, it will be the next time, and this is what made me succeed in my Mechatronics and in life. I learnt new things, found my interests, found my weaknesses, found friends, found a small family outside of my own home. I really enjoyed the hands-on learning and making projects and working with like-minded individuals. Being given a problem and having the ability to problem solve and work out different solutions was a lot of fun as well as really appreciated that even if the project didn’t succeed our effort and work was recognized. This learning environment is interactive and keeps me engaged and has given me a voice and choice in my learning path.

Mechatronics provided me the opportunity to explore and learn about different engineering areas. Being given the time and chance to problem solve to work out different solutions was a lot of fun. Mechatronics Special Projects was enjoyable as I could do something unique to my interests and since it was a semester long I was able to do a much more complex project. The Academy has helped me figure out my future career path - Software engineering, here I come!

My name is Christina, I was 1 of 5 girls who had enrolled in the Mechatronics Academy. I have always had an interest in building things, working with my hands and coming up with ideas to fix problems. This academy has provided me with a new challenge and is something I enjoy having as a part of my day to day. My time in the Academy has had a positive impact on my life and opened up new interests. I also learned that I do have skills and as long as I work hard I can accomplish anything.
